Low-carbon Building Materials: an Overview of Innovative Alternatives to Traditional Materials

The building industry is a major contributor to global greenhouse gas emissions, accounting for approximately 40% of energy-related emissions. Low-carbon materials offer promising opportunity reduce the environmental impact sector. are those that have low embodied carbon, meaning they require less energy and resources produce. They can be made from variety materials, including recycled natural sustainable materials. This study will examine benefits, limitations, challenges, opportunities associated with use low-carbon focus on different types technologies currently available, straw bale, bamboo, fly ash, CEB. challenges using these explore provided by their adoption. A review academic literature, reports, case studies conducted as part this study.
